Middle School Physical Education
Middle school physical education continues to stress the importance and emphasis on motor skills. More highly advanced drills are performed. A wide variety of agility drills, and shuttle drills are taught. Students also learn the different types of stretching techniques and how they improve flexibility. Middle school students also learn the importance of the five components of physical education. Students also learn the rules and regulations and skills of specific sports such as: football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball. Middle school students also train and perform for the Presidential Physical Fitness Test.
Seventh Grade Health
Seventh grade health students continue to have an opportunity to develop healthy attitudes towards factors that determine health and wellness. Social and public health includes topics such as social health, conflict resolution and violence prevention, and public health. The problems of tobacco and alcohol and the use of other drugs are stressed.
Eighth Grade Health
Eighth grade health students continue to have the opportunity to develop healthy attitudes towards factors that determine health and wellness. Fitness and nutrition is discussed, which covers growth and development from birth to death. Making and reaching fitness goals is discussed along with eating healthy and eating well.
