Lawrence Academy’s High School offers a rigorous and supportive learning environment where students are challenged to grow academically, socially, and personally. With a designed sequence of courses, electives, and extracurricular opportunities, students are able to explore their interests while developing critical thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills. 

Beginning in their Junior year, students may be eligible to take advantage of the Career and College Promise Program, allowing students to earn college credit and get a head start on higher education. At Lawrence Academy, Upper School students are being equipped to succeed in college and beyond, leaving LA with the confidence, knowledge, and curiosity to thrive in a global society.

 

Lawrence Academy’s Upper School (grades 9‑12), students engage in a structured academic program designed to prepare them for college and beyond. Required disciplines include:

  • English (4 units): Over four years, students progress from foundational composition and literature to advanced analysis and writing, with a strong emphasis on novel studies and vocabulary development to enhance reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
  • Mathematics (4 units): Students advance from Algebra I through Geometry and Algebra II, and then into Advanced Functions or Business Math, based on their future college plans.
  • Science (4 units): Coursework spans Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Human Anatomy & Physiology.
  • History (4 units): Study includes Civics, World History, U.S. History, and American Government.
  • Health and Physical Education (1 unit): A full year of PE supports student health and wellness.
  • Electives (6 units): two are recommended in a foreign language, one Fine Art is required, and an additional three. 
     

With a mix of core classes and electives, students can strengthen their skills, follow their interests, and gain confidence for the future.
