Dear Friends of Lawrence Academy:
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is our great pleasure to announce that on July 6, 2020, the Lawrence Academy Board of Trustees appointed Katrina Ford as the new Head of School. The Board’s unanimous decision to select Katrina follows a process that quickly identified Mrs. Ford as the best candidate for the position.
Katrina spent the past school year at Lawrence Academy as our Assistant Head of School and has been the Interim Head of School since June 30. Katrina brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new posting.
Katrina’s education is extensive and includes two Bachelor degrees and a Masters degree from the State University of New York. Most recently, she earned a Graduate Certificate in School Leadership from Liberty University. Katrina also holds a Principal’s certificate and various certifications in education from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and Georgia.
Katrina has spent over 22 years in the classroom and in administration. Her first 17 years were in public education in New York and Pennsylvania. From 2013 through 2019 she worked in independent schools in Georgia. At Arlington Christian School she served as K4 – 12 Principal, and at Harvester Christian Academy she served as K4 – 12 Principal and Interim Head of School.
An avid athlete, Katrina passed on an opportunity to play college basketball, but over the past 20 years has coached high school soccer and basketball, and junior college softball.
Katrina is married to Jerry, and their son, Cooper, attends Lawrence Academy. The family resides in Windsor.
The Board of Trustees looks forward to working with Katrina as she begins her leadership role. We believe she is the right person at the right time to continue the mission of maintaining and strengthening Lawrence Academy’s leadership role in independent education for northeastern North Carolina. Please join us in welcoming Katrina as our new Head of School.
Sincerely,
Jon Powell
